FOUR BLOODY FRIDAYS

(2nd Chapter)

1st Friday…

It was a Friday evening, a cell phone started ringing on the desk no. Six, where Amy was working in a rush. She didn't even bother to look at her mobile; her eyes were on the monitor and fingers were moving briskly on the keyboard. After a few minutes, Amy quickly glanced at her wristwatch, striking at half-past nineteen. She smiled and pressed the 'enter' button. Just then a man buzzed Amy's name, that was her boss, she grabbed all the files from her desk and dashed towards his office. After a few minutes, she came out and went straight to her desk. "Ding...!" her cell phone beeped, she searched for her mobile, in a mess on her desk, it was a message from one of her favorite person in that new city, Zoe,

"WHERE ARE YOU, MAN! This is just not done, we haven't met for two days, and FYI today is my b' day eve, and you are not even picking up my calls. I'm telling you, this is your last chance, missy. Call me as soon as you're free and meet me at G's bar, at 8, hate you!"

As she read the message, she shut her eyes, did a facepalm, and whispered, "Oh crap!" She glanced at her watch, grabbed the essential pieces of stuff, and hastened out of the office. As she reached her car, she sent a voice mail to Zoe,

"Wait for me outside. I am coming, love you!"

She quickly got into the car and drove straight to the bar. She was pretty excited at the thought of meeting her. She barely knew anyone in that new city, there were only two people with who Amy loved spending time, and Zoe was one of them. At first, they lived together as roommates, but Zoe later moved in with her boyfriend. Although the girls started living apart, Amy still cared for her a lot.

As she entered the bar's parking lot, she saw a small gaudy and gorgeous crowd. As she was passing by the group, she saw Zoe walking behind them, a short girl with blonde hair wearing a green midi dress and high heels to look tall; she hit the brakes instantly and yelled,

"Hey, Zoe!"

Listening to this, Zoe turned around and looked in the direction of the voice. Seeing Amy, she cried in excitement, "AMY...!" Amy went ahead to park the car.

Zoe gave her a tight hug by saying, "I am so glad that you came."

"Oh, please stop embarrassing me, Zoe. It's your birthday bro, what made you think that I won't come."

"Yeah yeah, now stop covering up. I know you forgot my b' day, as always." Zoe uttered with rolling eyes.

Amy smiled and wrapped her softly in her arms, "okay, now please smile nah babe."

"Yeah, okay, okay." Zoe said with twinkling eyes, "Anyways, you know, Steve and Jake are coming too."

"What do you mean? You should have informed me that before." Amy spoke surprisingly, "Look at me, I am gonna look like crap in front of Jake."

Hearing this, Zoe started laughing as she was all dressed in her formal clothing, black suit, white shirt, and a small badge engraved as "THE BEST EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH" on the left pocket of her blazer and her black hair tied in a bun. Amy gave her an unamused look.

"Fine, sorry, lemme try something, and first of all, remove this badge of yours," Zoe said amusingly. She asked Amy for her makeup, spread her long hair over her shoulders, shrugged off her blazer, rolled up her sleeves, and unbuttoned her shirt's top two buttons, which revealed a little of her cleavage.

"Phew! Now you look slightly better," Zoe said in an exhausting tone.

Just then, they heard a car's horn, which got parked right next to Amy's. Two casually dressed men got out of the vehicle, who was Steve and Jake. Steve was Zoe's boyfriend, and the other favorite person of Amy, a soft-hearted man and was a strong silent type, with a charming personality. Although he was tall and muscular, he had a babyface and was wearing an orange t-shirt and rugged black denim. The other one was Amy's date and Zoe's colleague, Jake, tall and athletic like Steve, but he was a jock personality, aggressive, arrogant, just the opposite of him. He was also dressed casually, in a sweatshirt and black trousers. This was Amy's second meet with him.

"Hey girls, what are you doing here?" Steve asked smilingly.

Recognizing Steve, Zoe went ahead to kiss him, and Amy gave him a warm hug. Amy smiled at Jake and shook hands, 'though Zoe hugged him.

"So you girls wanna go inside, right, or were you guys leaving," Steve said mockingly.

"Hahaha, shut up and start walking," Zoe said, pulling him by his arm.

The three of them went ahead, but Amy realized that she forgot her mobile in the car, so she was left behind. As she was crossing the road hastily to catch up, she didn't realize that a car was coming over from the other side. The driver stopped the car so close to Amy that she screamed out from fear.

"WHAT THE!" She exclaimed while hitting the bonnet with her hand.

Seeing this, Jake ran towards Amy and asked with concern, "Are you alright."

She nodded and walked away, while Jake gave the driver, who was not visible due to the car's black mirrors, a death stare. Zoe hugged Amy to comfort her, and then all of them went inside the bar.

The car, which was about to hit Amy, got parked, and two guys got out smiling at each other. One of them seemed relatively young from the other. Both were tall and were dressed up in suits.

"Did you see her, bro!" said the younger one.

"Yeah yeah, freaking beautiful, right Bob," said the elder one mockingly.

"Yeah, she is the one I like," Bob blushed.

"Okay, tell you what, you are gonna sleep with her, tonight," Tim winked at him, at which Bob smilingly shook his head in disappointment, and both of them walked to the bar.
